This Week: Schlafly Chef Collaboration Dinner at Granville Moore’s, Founders Tasting at Big Hunt and Celebrations at Capitol City & Sweetwater Tavern

It's Mid-Atlantic vs. Midwest week in the D.C. craft beer scene, with events for Schlafly's (St. Louis, Missouri), Great Lakes (Cleveland, Ohio), and Founders (Grand Rapids, Michigan) up against organized fun with Sweetwater (three locations across northern Virginia), Flying Dog (Frederick, Maryland) and Stillwater and Heavy Seas (Baltimore, Maryland). Read on for a run-down, but for details on any event click on it in our D.C. Beer Events Calendar above.

Stillwater Artisanal Ales will be featured at two beer dinners with delicious looking menus this week, Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown on Monday and Bilbo Baggins in Alexandria on Friday. But our pick for craft beer and food is the chef collaboration dinner at Granville Moore's. The dinner sees Schlafly executive chef Andy White teaming up with Granville Moore's chef Teddy Folkman for an expertly paired four-course dinner featuring six Schlafly beers.

Great Lakes Brewing Company is having a series of bashes to celebrate their new beers this month. The first of which include a sneak peek of Conway's Irish Ale at Bourbon in Adams Morgan on Tuesday and the tapping of the first keg of Doppelrock to hit D.C. at Bread and Brew in Dupont Circle on Wednesday. Doppelrock is so new, the brewery's website doesn't even have information up about it yet, but the Cleveland brewers intend for the rich, malty beer to be enjoyed with rock n' roll. You can do so at Blue Ridge on Thursday, with a live band, Doppelrock specials, and free glassware.

The Big Hunt is hosting  Michael Bell of Founders Brewing Company for a guided tasting of four Founders beers on tap: Black Biscuit, Breakfast Stout, Backwoods Bastard, and the highly sought after Canadian Breakfast Stout. If, like us, you have been enamored with Founders beers since they recently became available in D.C. and want to learn more about the brewery without taking a road trip to Michigan, this is your chance.

Capitol City Brewing Company celebrates its 2000th batch of beer at the downtown location on Tuesday with food and beer specials and a commemorative brew, the 2G (as in two grand) IPA, a nice, hoppy, American-style IPA. In other self-congratulations, Sweetwater Tavern, which has locations in Falls Church, Sterling, and Centreville, will celebrate their gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival with complimentary appetizers and $3 pints of GAR Pale Ale, this year's award-winning brew.

Not sure to put it in the "culture" or "cool party" bucket, but Flying Dog is co-hosting an exhibit and party with Brightest Young Things for Foto Week DC at the Foto Week Satellite Central space in Georgetown on Wednesday. Show up early for free Flying Dog beers and plenty of fun in the live projection photo booth.

In regular weekly to-do's, Room 11's Monday night guest tap is La Trou du Diable La Pitoune Ale. For your trivia fix, head to Biergarten Haus on Tuesday or Meridian Pint on Wednesday.
