Red Hook Lobster Truck Set to Hit the Streets Next Week

Signs are looking good, according to the man leading the charge for the Red Hook Lobster truck, that the long-awaited mobile crustacean unit will hit the streets on August 13. That's a week from tomorrow (although almost a month later than previously thought).

Leland Morris, whom the New York/DC owners have hired as president of the Red Hook's DC operations, said he just returned last night from Texas, where the vehicle is being built. Team Red Hook will receive the truck tomorrow, finalize materials over the weekend, and have the vehicle inspected on Tuesday.

"We are planning on hitting the streets on Friday, 8/13," Morris e-mailed today, "Route is still TBD."

Which means in eight days, you could be biting into buttery lobster rolls right on the street. You can find out the truck's whereabouts next week via its Twitter feed.
