A Visit From the Beer Fairy
What's better than drinking good beer? Well, nothing. But sharing it with people who also appreciate it is a close second. Bruce remembers fondly a day in 1998 when a German friend surprised him on his doorstep with a six-pack of Weltenburger Kloster Barock Dunkel–his favorite at the time (for sentimental reasons) and still very hard to come by on this side of the Atlantic. And just this morning another friend surprised him with a bottle of Saint Botolph's Town, a dark ale produced by the Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project, a gypsy brewer based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. But it's not like we're always on the receiving end. The Lagerheads have given their share of beer gifts over the years, too. So we ask you: what's the best beer gift you've ever received?

one year for my birthday, my wife brought me to shenandoah brewing company so I could finally brew my own beer. we don't live in a place that's conducive to homebrewing, so this brew-on-premises trip was perfect and a lot of fun. or there was one time, a couple of years after I moved to dc from out west, she had a case of New Belgium shipped to me. needless to say, I have the best wife ever...or an enabler...or both.

Nothing was finer for me than to receive a nice 4 pack of Dogfish Head 120 min IPA as a house warming present.

Duchesse De Bourgogne from a stranger at a bar on my birthday! This is the beer that made me realize I liked beer (y'know, when it doesn't suck).
