‘D.C. Cupcakes’ Debuts on July 16 on TLC
In turning to sisters, Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, TLC is hoping the business partners can carry some the huge, frosting-on-top success of their Georgetown Cupcake over to the Discovery Communications' channel. Or at least carry it through a long, hot summer.
D.C. Cupcakes, the six-part TLC series about the sisters and the thrills and chills of running their cupcakery, debuts next Friday, July 16, with back-to-back episodes. I'm not sure what TLC is trying to communicate by programming two episodes in a row, but I fear it's this: We better air these suckers while people still care.
You can watch a few short videos from D.C. Cupcakes over on the TLC website and judge for yourself.
Personally, I think TLC is looking for filler until it finally unleashes this ratings Yeti: Sarah Palin's Alaska, in which the former 'drill, baby, drill" governor gives us a warm-and-fuzzy tour of her home state. Complete with aerial wolf hunting, we presume.

ugh so tired of the cupcake nonsense. Wheres the backlash in terms of how fattening and unhealthy they are? Its hilarious watching lines of people in 100 degree heat for a cupcake each day.

wtf. these are hands down the worst and most over-hyped cupcakes in dc. i've never had one that wasn't dry as the desert (and piling on a pound of heavy frosting doesn't make it 'moist'). you'd seriously do better just to walk across the street to dean and deluca and getting something from there.

Georgetown Cupcake is simply the best! Love the lemon flavor!

Had one of these cupcakes last week for the first time. Grainy frosting. Horrible. Hello Cupcake just a short distance away in DC had wonderful cupcakes, and no hype. The gluten-free carrot with cream cheese frosting was awesome. "DC Cupcake" was a train wreck. What an awful show. Thank goodness it's only a 6 part series. 4 more until it's over! For a reality show it was incredibly scripted and poorly acted. Totally not believable. And stop calling your mother "Mommy," for crying out loud. How old are you?
