Brewing in the West Bank

We are fascinated by brewers working in unlikely places. You might remember our post from last December about the Murre Brewery in Pakistan, where brewers keep one eye on the beer and the other on the Taliban. Well, this time we'd like to bring to your attention a video report from Roger Cohen at The New York Times about the Taybeh Brewing Company in the West Bank. It is operated by the Khoury family from Brookline, Massachusetts, who started the business in the mid-1990s when things were looking up in the Middle East. The Second Intifada has challenged their ability to operate, but somehow they're getting by–even if their delivery trucks have to navigate Israeli checkpoints...
