America’s New Source for Organic Produce: Walmart Supercenters
In this companion video to a story that Corby Kummer wrote in the latest issue of the Atlantic, the food writer gives us a tour of Walmart's produce section. Here's the money quote after Kummer reviews the produce from both a Walmart Supercenter and a Whole Foods in Austin (the "ur-Whole Foods," as Kummer calls it):
"The surprise was, how similar a lot of the produce was."
Side note: Kummer's pronunciation of "produce" is not some food-snob affectation but one of the correct ways to pronounce the word, according to Merrian-Webster.
