Duck-Rabbit’s Wee Heavy Seasonal

A quick note to alert you to a recent beer find. If you're looking for a brew to go with the chilly weather, one good option is to go on over to Connecticut Avenue Wine & Spirits, near the Q Street Metro at Dupont Circle. Our pal Al, the store's very knowledgeable and enthusiastic beer guy, will direct you to the cooler in back, where he's now stocking six-packs of Duck-Rabbit's Wee Heavy Scotch Style Ale.

We first became aware of Duck-Rabbit last May when it hosted a launch party at Rustico in Alexandria for its delicious line of dark beers. Particular kudos are due for their spectacular Milk Stout. The Wee Heavy gives it a run for its money, as a dark, malty beer with plenty of caramel and candied sugar accompanied by a subtle roast flavor. It's perfect for wintertime, and you know we love winter beers. Wee heavy's not light on your wallet, clocking in at $14.99 for a sixer, but well worth the investment we thinks.

See other nice seasonals around town? Let us know in ye olde comments.

Brickskeller's holding their annual tasting of Mid-Atlantic holiday/winter brews tomorrow. They haven't released a beer list in advance of the tasting, but it promises to be a great event.
