[...] Forget hamburgers for a moment. Here’s a beef dish you can believe in, even at a place like Lotus Cafe, which casts a wider net than your average tuna fisherman. Seriously, a Vietnamese restaurant that serves calamari fries, coconut shrimp, and a Sex on the Beach cocktail? Is this place channeling Saigon or Cancun? [...]

1. Provided the average temperature is getting higher, accordingly all forms of germs, viruses, and influenza etc are more likely to multiply.

Some skeptics say the warning against hazards of climate change is overstated, but judging from more frequent and widespread outbreaks of e. coli, salmonella, and bird, swine flu cases endangering human lives and economic recovery seriously, some prompt measures need to be taken, I guess.

2. I personally recognize that wheat is a far better diet than meat on the ground it normally exits body with ease and rapidity, and we are well aware that our heath depends upon smooth metabolism and blood stream associated with the immune system and how important our daily workout is, as well.

I still think the critical conditions mostly come from breach of our immune system, and the food that stays long in the body is more likely to become a source where germs, bacterias and the like multiply.
Sounds outlandish, but wheat might be a principal "clean and healthy" food that has led western society to the most decent culture of all.

Creative meat..... Please, get your facts straight. Both the peanut and the spinach situations were caused by huge industrial agricultural concerns, not small mom and pop suppliers.

Um, a restaurant is just as likely if not more likely to be cause of contaminated beef.

And lets not forget that the last 2 major food-related illness scares were from tomatoes and peanuts. Industries not really suitable for an Upton Sinclair sequel.

We use a lot of ground meats at Dino. We buy our cuts and grind them ourselves. This is also true of Ray's Hell Burger and BGR as well as countless other quality oriented, usually independently owned restaurants.

Wake up folks.... industrial food doesn't want the story to get out! When you chose to go to a chain restaurant, you are supporting their supply chain and the agriculture it supports.

HFCS caught on in large part because the fast food chains liked the lower cost it provided over real sugar drinks. To hell with the diabetes epidemic we are now facing.

Ground beef patties and pre ground beef are exposed int he NY Times, but we have known someting is wrong since the Jack in the Box deaths.

Earthbound Farms, part of industrial Organic, sickens thousands with e coli tainted spinach because tehy don't have to test properly and the fact that they are just so freaking huge. They supply most of the bagged organic lettuces in the country using farming methods, that while technically organic, are damaging to our environment.

We are not allowed raw milk cheeses under 60 days old in this country but improperly made pasteurized cheese kill every year. Ballpark franks, corporate made, killed. Tainted peanut butter from a company that makes a huge percentage of peanut products and whose e coli tainted products were contained in thousands of products.

The list goes on and on.

Good grief- so much for purchasing ground beef. I can stomach the process of industrial food preparation as the price of our population size, but the deliberate decisions to place public health second to corporate interests is ethically nauseating.
I'll be waiting to hear how the local burger joints fare in Mr. Carman's investigation.
