Americans Still Amazingly Generous Despite Economy

The economy may be tanking fast enough to force restaurants like Cashion's Eat Place and Vidalia into developing new marketing plans, and it may be bad enough to send yups in Escalades to the food bank.  But the current economic stranglehold hasn't choked the generosity out of Americans, according to an Associated Press story.

Writes the AP:

The telephone survey, conducted in late October by Harris Interactive, found that seven in 10 adults plan to spend less money on holiday presents this year, but about half say they are more likely to give a charitable gift than a traditional holiday present like clothing or an electronic toy.

That could spell good news for local food-based charities whose own services keep expanding due to need.
