Good Veggie Food Can Be Found In Non-Veggie Restaurants

My main gripe with Compassion Over Killing's Three Green Awards has less to do with its questionable decision to reward the participants in COK's Restaurant Outreach Program than with the voters' decision to focus almost exclusively on all-vegetarian restaurants. Their votes smack of ideology as much as taste. Believe me, you can get much better veggie food in this city than the stuff found at Java Green.

I'd point you to a recent piece I wrote for The Onion's A.V. Club, but the local food articles don't appear online. (An aside: Hey Borlik, why don't you quit bitching about Subway and start putting up more links?) Instead, I'll direct you to Metro Connection, the WAMU program hosted by David Furst. Tomorrow at 1 p.m., David and I will talk about some of the best non-meat bites in the area.

    Any way to listen to the WAMU show online? As an aside, I actually really like Java Green. But my fave veggie place by far in DC is Jaleo. It's like a veggie tastesplosion in my mouth.

    Solarmagneticdynamo;

    I like Java Green, too. I just think you can do better.

    Here's the link to the WAMU program:

    I'd love to hear if you have more veggie faves.
