As a White person in the United States, my privilege has granted me the ability to remain ignorant of the experiences of people who are not White and to display this ignorance, typically without repercussions. This time, however, many people have criticized me for making racist statements in the piece I recently wrote for the Washington Post. I am grateful to those people for taking the time to criticize my remarks and I sincerely apologize for those statements. I will make a concentrated effort to educate myself about the experiences of people who are not White and will try my hardest not to make the same mistakes in the future.

I think that's what Parker meant to say.

Why is WaPo letting her continue? Good editors would've shut her up right now, because she looks like an ignorant idiot.

Apparently her (lack of racial) background hasn't enabled her to discern when she's being an ignorant jackass.

For a long time, I've thought Colbert's "color-blind" shtick was too over the top. I can't believe I was wrong.

"It's a column, not a dissertation"

Don't expect something well thought out, folks. It's only a column, after all.
