Rev. Patrick Mahoney Not Prosecuted Over Planned Parenthood Prayer

Today, Rev. Patrick Mahoney appeared in court on the charge of "unlawful entry" stemming from his June 8 arrest at D.C.'s downtown Planned Parenthood clinic. Mahoney, for the uninitiated, took a knee for the unborn on Planned Parenthood's sidewalk in defiance of the clinic's signs declaring the entranceway "private property." Mahoney won't be prosecuted on the charge—a rep from the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia confirmed that the office has declined to prosecute the case. Attorney Jim Henderson called the unlawful entry claim a "nonsensically bogus charge"; I have a call out to Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington asking for the organization's take.

A stay away order should be issued and then the charge would be contempt of court if he violates it. Ankle monitoring could be added - I think they make people pay for the privilege of wearing these.

Christians love to be martyred. Charging him would just allow him to play that role.

    Good he got off!

People, especially the religiously inclined, love a cause. "Please pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..."

    Brilliant photo.

And then you wonder why those religious freaks get bolder and bolder.

The US Attorney’s Office has some explaining to do. Is trespassing not trespassing anymore when "god" tells you to do it?

PP needs to get a barring order, which is a prerequisite for a criminal charge if he comes back. It's an order prohibiting a specific person from entering a specific place. PP may be on private land, but it is open to members of the general public--people seeking medical services, of course, but also people seeking interviews with staff, job applicants, people meeting up with their friends who work there, etc. In order to keep this guy off their land, they need to get a barring order. Once he's served with that, if he returns, it's unlawful entry or worse.

The crime is not what goes on outside but in!

When did free speech become illegal? Have you ever been outside a clinic when one of these horrible Christians is there? It's outragious. They do things like offer to help the woman- before and after the baby is born. It's something like an alternative. . . you know, a CHOICE for someone who doesn't know that someone is willing to help her. . . someone that no one else seems willing to help. Those damn Christians! We should lock them up so that you don't have to deal with the reality that abortion sucks. I've been there. I KNOW.
