"Agreed and the information proves what we antiporn feminists have been saying for years and years and years. Men who consume excessive amounts of porn are rapists waiting to happen. Is the government ever going to deal with this problem?"

No, actually it doesn't. You need to reread that chart carefully if that's the conclusion you come to. For the lowest three levels of sexual aggressiveness (eg, *most men*), there is no statistically significant correlation between levels of porn consumption. At level 4 it goes up slightly and level 5 (the most sexually aggressive and violent men), the correlation goes up a great deal.

Malamuth is clear about his conclusion: "for the majority of American men, pornography exposure (even at the highest levels assessed here) is not associated with high levels of sexual aggression"." (<a href="http://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/commstudies/faculty/malamuth/pdf/00arsr11.pdf" rel="nofollow">link</a>) That's pretty far from "rapists waiting to happen".

This is where I think porn gets a really bad rap. I think most people by now are OK with allowing things like music with violent lyrics or violent video games, even if there's the offhand possibility that somebody who has problems to begin with may be negatively influenced or triggered. In these cases, we're clear that its the individual's responsibility rather than blaming the media. But too many people treat porn as if it were somehow different.

Considering that the men I am around every day consume a rather large quantity of porn, and I would (and have) trusted them with my life on more than one occasion, I'm going to have to disagree with the statement that porn makes men rapists. There is definitely an interaction between the amount of porn consumed, a man's predisposition to violence, and his probability of becoming a rapist.

In fact, I just restated what Amanda said. Where, exactly, is the evidence that porn consumption turns men into rapists in the material being discussed?

This is what the scientific community refers to as an "interaction" - I really wish the rest of the world would learn what these are and stop pretending that exceptions don't exist.

I'm totally down with some porn :)and most people can handle it... but there ARE people who REALLY shouldn't be consuming it... particularly some of the uber-violent stuff that's out there.
