“Why Is This Ghost On My Vagina” And Other Questions Raised By Sexy Ms. Pac-Man

sexymspacman

In honor of hungry arcade icon Pac-Man's 30th birthday, The Digital Vegetarian unearths this photo demonstration of the Sexy Ms. Pac-Man Halloween costume, and how it works (you pull your sexy castle grommet skirt up to reveal a ghost!) I surveyed my fair share of ridiculous sexy Halloween costumes last October, but Sexy Ms. Pacman may be the most curious of them all. Why is the ghost on her vagina? Why is Pacman trying to eat Ms. Pacman—on some boobs? Shouldn't the wearer keep her sexy castle grommet skirt on, in order to protect Pacman and his other half from this life-sucking vagina ghost? Whose side is she on, anyway? Whatever. Sexy! [Via Jess at Birthday Bread Horse].

Isn't the idea that pacman will come and "munch" the ghost? It's actually a nice turn around on the cliche "breathalyzer - blow here" or whatever shirt. At least the woman is implying her desire to receive rather than just give oral sex. A step forward, sort of.

    @Guy Smiley

I think what actually happens is the ghost eats Pac-Man, and Pac-Man eats Pac-dots. The goal is to get Pac-Man to eat all the Pac-dots before the ghost gets him. So I think it's actually more of a vagina dentata, "In communist Russia, vagina eats YOU!" sort of scenario. Or, it would be if this costume made any sense, which it doesn't.

I'm a little shocked they didn't go with the more obvious (to me, anyway) fruit-on-vagina ploy. You know.... a well placed cherry or strawberry.
@Guy Smiley, at least then the desire for oral might... somehow... compute... I don't know. This whole outfit is such a mess. Why does the cut of the skirt look like a medieval fortress?

Ah, but Amanda it's much more sophisticated than that! See the ghost is purple, that means that Pac Man has eaten a power pellet and can then eat the ghost. So, to further contextualize the subversiveness that is this costume, the hunted becomes the hunter! But is it the original Pacman or Ms. Pacman that will go and munch the ghost/vagina? Is it too cisspecific to even consider it under he strict duality that is either Pacman or Ms. Pacman. And why is the male given the normative "pacman", or am I assuming Pacman is a cis male?

Oh and look, "Ms." Pacman! She's a feminist orange circle! But she still falls into the expectations of female orange circles by wearing lipstick and a bow in her non-existant hair!

God, there's a grad school paper somewhere in here surely.

Oh man. So one of her boobs is going to eat her vagina, is what you're telling me.

At least they stopped kidding themselves and are throwing out the pretense of "sexy so-and-so" Halloween costumes actually being costumes and just got right down to mostly naked business. *sigh* *headdesk*

All my other objections aside, I have to question whether or not this is actually even sexy. I get that it's revealing, and the model is attractive - but the 'outfit' itself is a mess. The tacky colours, the cheap fabric, the vagina-pelmet... it's so, so wrong it hurts my eyes. And I'm struggling with the premise that anyone, male or female, has ever played PacMan and thought 'Hmm, I'd like to do the nasty with that animated circle there'.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm telling you.

I'm looking at this, and all I can think is You've got to get out of here! Your vagina is haunted!

I think if her vagina gets to her boobs first, they lose a life.

I think the medieval fortress look is meant to be reminiscent of the maze walls- the two tone pink/purple stripe looks like the graphics for Ms.Pac-Man. I also think that the commenters here are putting way more thought into this costume than the original designer did.

Yes, clearly with talk of boobs and vaginae fighting, we are all taking this far too seriously.

I actually own this. I bought it (on sale! as though that makes it OK) as a Valentine's Day present for my boyfriend because he saw it online and thought it was hilarious. I got a real kick out of acting like my V-Day underwear was going to blow him away with its sexiness, when really it was going to make him collapse laugh.

(The fabric is really itchy and it runs small.)

i kinda see it as she's wearing the hot pink bow in her hair to symbolize ms. pacman herself, and it sends the, uh, cutesy message of "come chase/eat/whatever me! tee hee!" i don't know, that's the vibe i get.
