Before any of the females respond to what kind of female they think I am let me clarify. I am a happily married mother of 3 that just happens to have a personality. I don't let my kids watch this movie, they aren't old enough. I don't even have to drink or smoke in order to have a sense of humor or an open mind. The world needs more women with open minds and personailities. Take care and if one man can really upset you that bad talk to a counselor. :)

Actually this article is not very well written because the people writing it didn't know what they were talking about. They looked at a couple lines from the movie and book and decided they were experts on the topic.

I am an NC State student and would like to say thank you to the university for understanding comedy. Someone please tell me one instance when Tucker Max has been accused of rape by the person he had sex with...Yep never happened. Embarrassed? No Doubt, but never rape. Please don't under mind a serious crime like that.

All of which he says in spite of being cheated on, so you have absolutely taken basically everything you have written out of context. I'm a girl, and I find Tucker to be hilarious and I loved the book and the movie. The guy loves women, sure he's a jerk but it must be working for him if so many women keep sleeping with him, no?

I'm a humanist. Feminism however fails because it asks for the benefits of equality while maintaining status as a female. E.g.- a female in the workplace wants equal pay, but also expects special considerations such as restricted conversations (no "dirty jokes", eg), time off to watch the kids, less strenuous workload, etc.

My point is you can't have your cake and eat it too. Equality means respect (equal pay and protection under the law) as well as at times perceived disrespect (e.g being the butt of a joke i.e tucker max, and being equally accountable in drunk sex situations).

It's a different matter if someone's being aggressive towards you. The "carve another fuckhole in your torso" line is, for me, where funny ends and repellent begins. Primarily because of the creepier individuals who you just know will be drawn into Tucker Max fandom by lines like that.

I think lines like that would be offputting to most women, but that might all be part of the deal. The guys making this film seem conflicted about whether or not they really want women to enjoy their style of comedy. They add in the heart of gold stripper who gives as good as she gets. Who, in doing so, forms a connection with the most apparently misogynistic group member. But details like the stripper career, the little boy and the addiction to computer games might be the masculine credentials she needs before they can accept her as an intelligent, strong women.

That said, a sexist movie is hardly the end of the world. Frat boys exist, and they're as entitled as anyone else is to have movies made for them. This movie hasn't been banned by censors, and I can't think of one good reason why it should be. Tucker Max has gone out of his way to clarify that he regards rape as a repulsive thing. You might not value the "bring a woman's self esteem down so that she'll use sex for validation from you" approach. I agree that it's crass and hostile, and I'm not personally attracted by it - but that doesn't make it a criminal offense.

I've met quite a number of guys who are into the Tucker Max comedy style. I'd describe them as gentlemen, and they evidently don't regard Tucker Max as some kind of role model. They just tend to think he's got a flair for telling stories.

If you want to protest about artists supporting rape, you might want to concentrate your energies on the celebrities who signed the Hollywood petition to free Roman Polanski. I don't see Tucker Max's name anywhere on that list.
