Jaime, she was sarcastically correcting the original report. Often, news agencies confuse transgender men and transgender women, and that is what's offensive here. I hope you're just not familiar with this blog otherwise I'd dole out my standard "moron" insult.

Jaime: I always use the cross-out in the name of transparency, so readers know where the corrections have come in. I thought that was particularly important in this post, since the latter part of this post included a thread about media outlets mis-reporting the genders of the victims. But you're absolutely correct. I've changed the corrections to appear in the post-script instead of in the actual text.
