I think the term "ex gay" needs to be better defined.

I've read of the "ex gay" groups that believe homosexuality can be "fixed". This implies that the output of this process is essentially a straight person.

however, by godfrey's description, there is no "fixing" going in. Godfrey just sounds like a celibate gay man. No biggie...

I hate to break it to you godfrey, but if you want to have sex with people of your gender, you're gay. Your choice of words "heterosexual facade" even indicates this. Being celibate (for religious reasons, health reasons or to protest the discontinuation of your favorite lube) doesn't really change anything.

Or are heterosexual priests "ex straights"?

Not all individuals challenged by Same-Gender Attraction abandon the homosexual lifestyle for heterosexuality. Many, in their renewed existence, choose celibacy over putting on a heterosexual facade, not to please humanity, but in order to please GOD, if that's what it takes; especially those of us in whom GOD has made it crystal clear that the act in as much as the lifestyle exalts itself above HIS creation, HIS humanity, and HIS WORD.

I, for one, have been ex gay, celibate and spiritually satisfied for over four years now and ecstatically counting.

Hat's off to PFOX for helping to make life safe in this world for people like me and for helping Christ make it safe for whoever else abandons the spiritually-recalcitrant lifestyle it in the next.

Be blessed,
- Godfrey

Reading the ruling, I do not believe the court conclusively said that ex-gays constitute an explicitly protected class.

The court reversed an earlier ruling that ex-gays are *not* a protected class, but it did not state that they *are* a protected class in D.C.

The court rationalized that, on the basis of the city's unusually expansive Human Rights Act which defines sexual orientation by "preference or practice," an ex-gay might hypothetically seek protection on the basis of a mutable decision not to "practice" homosexuality anymore. However, the court found that no such discrimination had occurred in the case of the NEA.

What must happen next? D.C. should revise its Human Rights Act so that sexual orientation is not misdefined.

The court ruling has no bearing outside of D.C.; no other locality that I'm aware of, (mis)defines sexual orientation so broadly.

I don't understand. Isn't humanity the only criterion for being protected under a human rights act?
