As usual I see the City Paper (native Washingtonian speaking here) is all over the cutting edge. ROFL. I am the thyroid girl (and the Virtual Violations author), and to put a belated period on the matter--Yes, the entire surgical experience has an obedience undertone that is not for the free spirited or strong willed of the world. In essence, they put you down. And you stay there until they're finished mucking around. The medical team, however, was superb, and I am back, revved. xxxoooo Thanks for the plug.
