There’s a new development in the exciting game of cat-and-mouse that is getting a date on when the H Street-Benning Road streetcar will finally run.
Asked during an appearance on WAMU’s The Politics Hour, Muriel Bowser first hedged on when the streetcar will start carrying passengers, saying only that it would be “soon.” But when pressed, Bowser echoed District Department of Transportation chief Leif Dormsjo, saying that she’ll ride the streetcar in the first year of her administration—-in other words, by Dec. 31, 2015.
“We will get the streetcar running on H Street,” Bowser said.
If the streetcar starts running in December, it will miss the January 2015 deadline set by ex-Mayor Vince Gray by nearly an entire year.
