Bryan Weaver Won’t Run in Ward 1
Ward 1 Democratic nominee Brianne Nadeau's path to a D.C. Council seat just got a little easier. Bryan Weaver, who dropped out of the Democratic primary to run in the general election, now tells LL that he won't pick up petitions to get on the November ballot.
Weaver, who dropped out of the primary in the face of a split vote against incumbent councilmember and Weaver nemesis Jim Graham, says he's satisfied now that Nadeau beat Graham in the primary.
"The ultimate goal of this election was to eliminate the boss politics of the ward," Weaver says.
With Weaver out of the way, Nadeau faces only an independent challenge from real estate broker Ernest Johnson.
As for Weaver, he says he's not closing the door on another run for office. With Graham out of office in January, he says he's considering more councilmembers who he thinks need to be pushed out of the Wilson Building.
“You could make a list of folks that probably still need to go out of there," Weaver says.
