Vincent Orange: Feds Didn’t Find Anything Wrong With Campaign
Vince Gray entered the mayor's race Monday with the threat of a federal investigation of his last campaign still hanging over him, but one of his rivals claims that he's not under a similar threat. At-Large Councilmember and mayoral hopeful Vincent Orange declared that federal investigators' questions about his 2011 at-large campaign won't result in charges.
In an afternoon appearance on WAMU's Kojo Nnamdi Show, Orange said he's not facing criminal charges, despite subpoenas of his 2011 at-large campaign and one of his campaign donors. "Nothing has come of that," Orange said.
Orange, whose campaign received suspicious money orders from straw donors connected to alleged shadow campaign financier Jeff Thompson, said he hasn't provided help to investigators about any colleagues and/or rivals: "They have not asked me anything about anybody else's campaign."
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office declined to comment.
