Rob Ford Polls Better Than Vince Gray
The mayoral candidates faced each other in their first debate last week, but the race won't really get going until Vince Gray makes his decision about whether to run for re-election. While the mayor mulls his options, here's something for him to consider: He's polling worse than crack-smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford.
Consider this September poll by Hart Research, the last public poll released on the mayor. Hart found only 35 percent of D.C. respondents have a favorable opinion of Gray. That's five points below Ford in last week's poll of Toronto residents, which somehow found 40 percent of them still viewed him favorably.
A few caveats: the Hart poll came before Gray's crowd-pleasing performance during the government shutdown, and was commissioned by Respect D.C., which backed the Large Retailer Accountability Act. The Toronto poll, on the other hand, was taken before Ford boasted about his pleasure-giving prowess and went on a rampage in Toronto's city council.
