Listen: Tommy Wells for Mayor, the Go-Go Song

It's not a D.C. mayoral race without some campaign songs—the 2010 Adrian Fenty-Vince Gray race, after all, brought about the surprisingly catchy "Don't Leave Us Fenty". For the 2014 cycle, the mayoral campaign of Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells has inspired a Wells-themed go-go song: "Tommy Wells, One More Time."

The song, written by John "Peter Bug" Matthews, includes several planks of Wells' "livable, walkable" platform:

  • Green space ("A park, just around the corner, just around the bend. For me and my canine.")
  • Multimodal transportation ("Bicycles powered by the human race")
  • D.C. voting rights ("Taxation without representation lead to revolt in the colonies.")

    BUSTED. STOOPID. REEEEDUNKULOUS.

    TRY HARDER WHITE BOY! BWAAAHHHH!

  • MarketVendor

How much Hines School developer money did it cost Tommy Wells to have this ditty written for him? Wells certainly didn't give care about the jobs of the lowly vendors at Eastern Market when he made a failed political-spoils-takeover attempt of our businessplace last year.

It will take the blacks from Ward 6 to get TW into office. The Pied-piper has struck and all of the little black rats will go to polls and vote for TW.

This song is surprisingly awesome, much like Tommy Wells.

  • Really?

Oh Tommy "nobody puts baby in the corner" Wells. Didn't Fenty try this? How well did that work out for him?

I'm wondering how many people of color are in Tommy's inner circle? If there were any, why didn't they tell him that this was a big no no!

  • TomTom

Peter Bugg Matthews, the glorified Boot Black (no pun intended) runs a speakeasy, brothel, and (I'm told)drug den for the Good Ole Boys on gentrified Capitol Hill.
The Black hoodlums seen congregating outside are also the suppliers of illegal substances elsewhere in the city.

Those are the only ones of color in TomTom's circle and believe me it ain't inner. Investigate THAT Mr. New Loose Lips. Make your bones on it.

It is a disgrace that the MPD allows that operation so close to a school and a satellite office of it's own. If TomTom has hooked up with P-Bugg then Lord Help Ward 6 and the entire city of Washington DC.

P-Bugg has been a wanna-be player for many, many years.
His new found friends on Capitol Hill have relegated him to House Niggah stztus. Oh the stories I plan to tell if this thing opens up. Gotta be realllll careful though. That is a really rough Black Crew. Some of them are in DC government and sell their drugs on playgrounds and at rec centers while on the DC dime.

Marion Barry put many of those ex-offenders to work in DC government and they work DC like a scam. Found out how easy it is to keep a job, get benefits and retirement too. Most of them were never elevated beyond the entry level grade because they have no skill set and even when MB was no longer around to protect them they were able to hold onto those 'career' positions.

AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE AND WHILE TOMTOM MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT THE GANGSTERS HANGING OUT IN THE PETER-BUGG ACADEMY, HE SURELY KNOWS THERE ARE NO SHOE-REPAIR CLASSES BEING HELD.

  • DC FASBLAC

I am not surprised how we attack each other. Our self hatred runs sooooooooooo DEEP! If white America can support an African American for President; why can't a black city support a white Mayor? If we organized and stopped crticizing maybe our issues would be addressed no matter who's in office!!!!!
