AJ Cooper, what a loser. Your not strong enough to stand on your own two feet, and you use Obama being re-elected as a reason to switch parties? How pathetic!

You just want to get a better job than the one you currently have, you clearly aren't loyal to any political affiliation.

Democrats don't want desperate independants who could use a boost in notariety. From Kim Kardashian to AJ Cooper, I have seen it all when it comes to trying to rise to fame.

  • Art

@Faker, "your" and "you're" are not synonymous.

  • David

@Alan, the homeless college students link isn't working

  • Lester

Cooper when asked at a debate said he would always be registered as an Independent and chose to do so because he wanted to "stand apart from his family"
who btw ARE NOT a DC political dynasty as decribed by Tim Craig. Fact is Peggy Cooper only gave him a token contribution. Guess Tim Craig has a crush on Cooper and will keep printing favorable stories sp he can get a little some some.
Cooper, take your acting back to BET, they need that talent!

  • http://www.newbrightwoodianblog.wordpress.com Nisa655

To all who think AJ Cooper is a loser, hypocrite, faker, etc. He is not the one who switched parties to avoid a Primary. He comes from a family of lifelong Democrats and branched off as an Independent to find his own way. Well that path led him back to the party of his heritage, the party that his values are MOST aligned with.

@Lester, your devoid of rational thought and vulgar comments directed at AJ Cooper and Tim Craig are unwarranted and unappreciated and only exemplify your ignorance and clear bigotry.

THIS COOPER CHARACTER IS LESSER THAN A FAKE ASS BASKETBALL PLAYING MICHEAL BROWN.

THAT MOFO IS ALL OVER THE PLACE! TWO. THREE HIGH SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES??? WHAT THE FUCK!!! OL' UNSTABLE ASS BAMMA. WE GOT ENUF OF THEM ON THE COUNCIL ALREADY. SLIM SAVE YOUR MONEY AND FOCUS ON SOME PERSONAL ISSUES.

BROWN MAY BE A LAZY FUCK-UP AS FAR AS HIS PERSONAL BIZNASS IS CONCERNED BUT HE IS CONSTANT AND CONSISTENT AND HAVE EXPERIENCE ON THE JOB.

MICHEAL BROWN TO THE COUNCIL IS LIKE JOSH WILSON TO THE REDSKINS DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD. HE MAY GET BEAT DEEP EVERY NOW AND THEN BUT HE IS A SOLID TACKLER, CREATES TURNOVERS AND IS STEADY.

IN OTHER WORDS HE IS THE BEST OF THE WORSE!

  • Faker than a $23 Bill

ahaha I'm not falling for that B.S about "finding a path back to Democrats" this isnt religion this is POLITICS. He wants to be a Dem because he needs the help and Dems run the city.

The sad thing is us Dems dont forget flip flop people. We burned Biddles weak behind for flip-flopping just like we will burn AJ Cooper for being desperate. Take your independent whoopings like a MAN!

  • DC Guy

Cooper lost my vote with this. Brown did too.

  • rezInWard4

I voted for Cooper because I am tired of the useless bunch we have on the council. However, a knee-jerk switching of parties leads me to doubt his conviction on the positions that he claims, and leads us right back to the same ole' shenanigans that we already have on the council.

  • Drez

Cooper lost any chance with me when I saw his signs posted 5 or 6 deep at every intersection. The law says only 3 per intersection.
The other thing is that his signs make him look like a white hipster dude. He's not. Not that I care about that, but of he can't advertise himself honestly than I have no use for him.
Learning that he's part of the Cafritz dynasty is another negative. Again, nothing against that family, however DC has never been well served by electing the younger members of political families. It didn't work with Kwame, it didn't work with HTJ, it didn't work with Michael Brown.
I hope voters are smart enough to see this for what it is: another political scion getting into the mix because of a failure to do anything else with their life.

  • http://distcurm.blogspot.com/ IMGoph

Remember when Sekou Biddle lined up to get his ass handed to him in the last DCDSC appointment? How VO had that on lock down. Just checking.

  • http://www.newbrightwoodianblog.wordpress.com Nisa655

So, people aren't going to vote for a well liked, smart, candidate because he was born into the "wrong family" and you don't like his signs? Really? And we wonder why this city is so messed up. Don't vote for someone because of their politics, record, personal transgressions, not aesthetics or their bloodline. If you don't have anything more intelligent to add to the discussion then please sit down. I am not happy he switches parties either, trust me. I was quite vocal about that issue but after SPEAKING with Mr. Cooper, I understand his rationale to some degree and still expect that he will continue to speak on the ISSUES which he campaigned for during the last at large election. As for the comment regarding his "failure to do anything else with his life" perhaps you should READ more about him. He has a steady job and has been working aggressively to cut the teenage pregnancy rate in this city, which as you know is one of MANY factors which leads to school drop outs, adds to the unemployment, TANF, WIC and Medicaid rolls, etc.

Are you kidding me you're not going to vote for this man because of what? I met this gentleman three months ago he love his city love the people want to change things in this city if you keep having the same people and office nothing is going to change . he's smart to got everything going for him. This what happen when you have a majority of one race in a city they don't want to see their race doing will they want to try to pull them down anyway They can . why not give hime gentleman a chance or meet the gentleman and see what he's talking about.

  • Drez

    @Nisa655
I've seen this game before. Thanks, but no thanks.

  • DCGovcorruption

Anita Bonds will win the appointment with the political hacks and have another government job post kwame brown for 4 months. However, she will have a hard time winning the special election. Due to the number of candidates running with name recognition, she will be unable to win. When the WP and CP finish vetting her past political hack history and poor leadership of the dc democratic state committee, she will end up like former councilmember biddle.

It would be nice if those who talk so much crap about others would reveal themselves. I have no shame, why do you?

  • nowaitadaminit

You already know the answer to that question Mr. Lorenzo.
Why would anybody want to post his real name on a blog?
What would be the point? It's not a matter of shame, it is a matter of maintaining one's anonymity.

Now, I for one, would like to know more about the Coolidge High principal story. What precipitated the entire situation? What is it the victim did not want to discuss? "Get her, bitch" doesn't sound right to me. Who was called bitch? "Get THAT bitch, maybe, but not what was quoted. Small point, but one I would consider if I was on a jury hearing the case.

Of course I would also maintain objectivity before deciding how I would vote. Glad the headline here was posted as a question.

  • nowaitadaminit

Also, was there a little nepotism going on in that office?
