Non-Shocking Returns: Mendo, Norton, Others Keep Seats

How Phil Mendelson Rose to the Top of D.C. Politics

Chairman Mendo

Well, there are a few safe bets with around 48 percent of D.C. votes reported.

Congressional Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton will, not shockingly, keep her seat—she's currently got more than 116,000 votes for 89 percent.

Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry has more a 7,000 vote edge over opponent Jahuar Abraham, for 84 percent. And Ward 7 councilmember Yvette Alexander has 87 percent of votes in her race against Republican Ron Moten. Among unopposed councilmembers, Ward 4's Muriel Bowser and Ward 2's Jack Evans will also easily keep their seats.

And acting Council Chair Phil Mendelson gets to drop the "acting" from his title: So far, he's got 72 percent against challenger Calvin Gurley's 26.

Lots more results here.

Orange won as well, why is his name not mentioned in the article. You named all the other candidates that won except for Orange.

Perhaps WaPo, City Paper, and Loose Lips are pissed off they cannot unseat Orange, because now that the election is over they should give him credit for his victory like they did the others.

Just shows how biased and unprofessional these news outlets are. The total level of disrespect!!
