Ron Moten Launches Attack Ad

When Ron Moten announced he was running for the Ward 7 D.C. Council seat, the city's body politic began waiting patiently for some Web-based campaign videos. It was Moten, after all, who was behind the the classic "Don't Leave Us Fenty" music video that is probably the best thing Adrian Fenty has to show for blowing $4 million in a losing effort to keep his job as mayor in 2010 (that, and a carefree existence outside of District politics).

But Moten's first ad, in which the newly minted Republican tries to associate his Democratic opponent Yvette Alexander with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, lacks any of the musical talent that made his Fenty ads worth watching.

Moten, a former go-go promoter, explains that it's tough to find studio time on a shoestring budget: "With the Fenty campaign, you had resources."

But Moten says music ads are still coming, despite the lack of campaign cash. He says some of his friends are currently working on a hip-hop track that has "$1,000 ticket, $1,000 ticket" as a hook, in reference to Alexander's support of higher-level speed camera fines.

For her part, Alexander says she has no plans to make any type of video rebuttal, with music or otherwise. "He needs to really get something to do," says Alexander, who adds that she may pick a song to sing along with at her victory party.

Is it an intentional mistake to pronounce her name as "Yvette Alexandria"? 'Cuz it just seems sloppy.

Moton need to get him another ad man, this was a sorry ad and a matter of fact Moten need to find himself another job, all the city need is another blustering, slight of hands low information Councilman.

We only have to thank the Fenty campaign and its supporters for not taking Moten out sooner.

You need to stick w/the Peaceholics if it's still active. You have no direction for this city. I wasn't feeling Fenty who robbed the "east of the river" nor am I feeling you. Giving you the Stevie J. rat face......

SLIM YOU DON'T AND CAN'T MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF BY POPPIN' YOUR CHERRY IN POLITICS DENIGRATING YOUR OPPONENT.
IT DOESN'T WORK AND YOU WILL BE FOREVER LABELED AS THAT GUY WHO TALKS BAD ABOUT PEOPLE AND NO ONE BUT LOSERS WILL ONLY ALIGN THEMSELVES WITH YOU.

WHEN YOUR SCHTICK WAS GOING IN HARD AND HEAVY ON MAYOR GRAY ONLY PAINTS YOU AS AN ANGRY, IGNORANT BLACK MAN AND A BROKE ASS VERSION OF DAVID CANTANIA.

WHO EVER MADE THE DECISION TO GO NEGATIVE ON ALEXANDER IS SOME ILLYFORMED MOFO WHO SHOULD HAVE THEIR LONG BUS PAPERS REVOKED AND BE REINSTATED BACK ON THE SHORT BUS ASAP.
