    What we know is a shadow campaign used ill begotten T-shirts, signs etc to help the candidate win. Yes, the Fenty Write-in campaign has been cited by OCF and fined for these law breaking acts. Did Lopez, Drissel and Falcheccio coordinate this write-in attempt without Fenty's knowledge? Doutful.

    Now we know another shadow campaign used ill-begotten T-shirts, signs etc to help candidate B win. Did Harris and Thompson coordinate this without Gray's knowledge? equally doubtful.

    Same crime, different outcomes, both guilty.

    Cheh is a snake.

    I supported Fenty in the election, but I don't think Gray should resign. I think he's actually done an ok job as mayor. It would be far more of a circus to have a special election for mayor over this.

    The council is a fucking joke. We as citizens have been bamboozled by crooks and members of the council approving Michael Brown knowing that he is a crook as well is disheartening.

    Although Kojo was hillarious in his video on VO claiming he is the best, I know see why Orange is frustrated when he has to work with crooks, people who work for other companies and proclaim they have the best interest in the city, and those who support the crooks.

    Cheh was PRO-Fenty,Gray,Brown, and Thomas until they all got caught, then she replies "I'm ashamed at all this, I didnt know they committed the crimes"

    "Catania and Bowser were passionate partisans of Adrian Fenty who continued to oppose Gray adamantly after the 2010 election, so their opposition to Gray now is no surprise, but Cheh supported Gray’s mayoral campaign.

    Both Catania and Cheh are arguing that Gray wasn’t necessarily aware of everything that was done in his campaign, but that if he wasn’t aware of it he should have been.

    Here are two of the many divisions the city faces because of Mayor Gray’s predicament. First, will this cause a revival of the Gray-Fenty split in the city? The finances and management of Fenty’s mayoral campaign has not received any of the in-depth investigation that Gray’s campaign is getting — even though over the years Fenty (like most elected officials in DC) got major campaign contributions from Jeffrey Thompson and his businesses and business associates.

    Moreover, Fenty’s mayoral campaign received nearly twice as much in total reported donations as Gray did, and Fenty took over the day-to-day management of his campaign personally, cutting off the longtime political professionals had had hired to run his campaign and rejecting their campaign supervision and even advice. Could the Fenty 2010 campaign survive the same scrutiny as the Gray 2010 campaign? Second, will the effort to force Gray to resign be perceived as racially motivated, as a campaign by whites to drive black politicians out of office and out of power? Of course that is not an entirely rational response, given that blacks and whites were for both Gray and Fenty, that both men are black, and that the investigators and prosecutors in the Gray case are racially mixed and are being led by a black US Attorney. But that irrationality works in national politics, where Democrats charge that all opposition to President Obama is based on racial hostility. Why should it not work in local politics? "

    I dont mind a councilmember working for a corporate giant, we all know politicians do not have the real power. Its the people who donate and spend money.

    If the citizens want to see a better city, put your money where your mouth is and prove you can financial support your candidate better than us corporate people. If not, then we Big Time Companies will continue to control those puppets and make sure we are first and the people come second.

    Jack Evans and David Catania know better than to disown corporations. Jack cant support all 30 of his kids with a council salary, and David cant wine and dine his men without that money either. Mary Cheh is property of George Washington University, so her being a Law Professor yet supporting Kwame Brown is beyond funny!

    You arent practicing what you preach! Barry White would not like that!!

    But isn't it likely that they have all been benefiting from the same kind of "shadow campaign" for years - certainly every one of them associated with the State Democratic Committee, which is nearly all of them. This is really about insiders all agreeing to look the other way for the good of the cause - their cause - with the unspoken understanding that "going along" is the price of power in DC. But there are rules, and there are laws, and we finally have a new sheriff in town who intends to enforce them. Has anyone noticed that all the insiders are represented by the same two or three attorneys? They're willing to pay those guys big bucks to defend them when they get caught, but apparently don't pay a dime to anyone to keep them out of trouble in the first place - because they don't think they will. Maybe that will all begin to change now. This is all for the best. Gray is done.

    As long as politicians in this city are elected based on "he walk like us, talk like us, act like us" crap this will continue. Anyone that thinks those are qualifications for office is an idiot and we will continue to have an incompetent council.
    Hell we might as well pick Barry for mayor cause we all know he does so much for his ward. Maybe he will do something about those silly immigrants who work and such.

    Cheh's reversal means a couple of things. One, she's realized (a little too late imho) that her support for Gray is hurting her politically in Ward 3. I can't see how she gets reelected, even now. It was courageous or whatever for her to support Gray in '10, if Gray had turned out to be good. Now, it looks like political suicide.

    The second thing it means is that Gray is a dead man walking. Or reverse vampire walking, whatever. He may keep limping until that day he enters a guilty plea and resigns, but he's done. May-or Men-do, clap clap clapclapclap.

    However this thing plays out is how it plays out. Not a single council member has any right to be self rightous. NOT ON THIS COUNCIL!!!!!! Not these crooks and clowns!!! The ones who needed ethics reform and then thinking they could police themselves--PLEASE! One is in jail, one is on the way and questions surrounding too many others. This is not pretty and damn disturbing to everyone. They voted in a new chairman and I suggest that for now,follow the lead of the chair and shut up! Everyone that's talking got money from Thompson too. Pay to play apparently has been a standard practice for years. Corruption and politics go hand in hand all over this country. It's a dirty shame and a dirty truth.

    @Mary-Austin ahahah you sound dumb, that was a quote from VO, the sad truth is that VO was the smart man in his situation. He learned from Sulaimon Brown to cry Wolf first before the feds get him. It takes two to tango, and Sulaimon is a free man, and was the one doing the dirty work for Gray.

    At the end of the day, the certified public accountants won!!

    What is also a shame is the mindset of the voter. How many of you voted for someone because they got you a new trashcan, or cleaned up your street, or cut your trees.

    Don't act like "what have you done for me lately" isn't practice not just in politics but in other professions as well.
