I agree with john graham in an effort to find humor you have given up on any real reporting which is sad. And if you don't know the difference between the two terms you are reporting on that is really sad and maybe your editor could spring for a dictionary.

If someone "bends to the front, to touch her toes" (Little Jon), then the butt cheeks may not "completely and opaquely" cover the anus but a thong might while still allowing the butt cheeks to be exposed.
