Former Ward 5 ANC Chairman Charged
The hits keep on coming for Ward 5.
William Shelton, former chairman of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5B, has been charged with "access device fraud" in federal court. According to an information filing by federal prosecutors, which means that Shelton will almost certainly agree to a plea deal, Shelton fraudulently used the debit card issued to ANC 5B and has agreed to forfeit $28,526.21 in cash.
Shelton's legal troubles are of no great surprise. Last summer, an audit found that Shelton allegedly spent 5B's kitty at Bloomingdale's and on the car note for his Lexus.
When LL called Shelton's house, his son said he would be home later this afternoon. LL will update as needed.
