FBI, Treasury Agents at Harry Thomas Jr.’s House
WTOP's Mark Segraves is reporting that the FBI is at Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr.'s house, but at the moment the councilmember has not been arrested.
LL is hearing all sorts of disparate info from his sources at the Wilson Building about what's currently happening. LL will be updating throughout the day as more facts become available.
Thomas and his attorney Fred Cooke Jr. were not immediately available for comment. Cooke is at Thomas' house.

Update (9:53 a.m.): A federal source confirms that the FBI is searching Thomas' property but says it is unlikely that Thomas is going to be arrested today.
Update (10:03 a.m.): The AP is reporting that IRS agents are also searching Thomas' house (Taxes, that's how they get ya!). LL's editor, Mike Madden, just arrived on the scene to find Thomas' cul-de-sac roped off, plenty of federal law enforcement vehicles around Thomas' house and a lot of media milling about.
Update (10:10 a.m.): Madden reports that he just saw law enforcement officials take two or three garbage bags' worth of materials out of Thomas' house and put them in a vehicle. Madden also says there's a tow truck on the scene, but Madden cannot see if Thomas' Audi is in his garage.
Update (10:42 a.m.): The tow truck drove off a little while ago, as did a Treasury Department police car. The truck didn't take anything with it as it left.

It now appears that the feds have caved into the pressure mounted by the establishment to take down Harry Thomas. However, it should be noted that the same forces that are so interested in seeing Harry Thomas fall from grace are the same forces that wish the same for nearly every black council member on the council. Whether Harry Thomas should remain in office during such turbulent time is a decision for him and his supporters to make. However, unlike so many people on this blog, I am not going to condemn this man to jail before he has been found guilty of anything. One other point, the very same bloggers who are shouting for Harry's ouster remains very silent on calling for the same treatment for "others" who are suspected of committing arguably even worse acts. However, those "others" are not black and herein lies the true tragedy of this endless drama.

@Tony, you are correct, some coments have racial overtones from racist Democrat and Republican bloggers. Harry should have known better as a black politician, you must be on guard at all times because whites in America are watching you under a microscope. There have always been laws in this country that apply to blacks and don't apply to whites and vice a versa. I can't stand Jack Evans and Miss David Catania because I truly believe they are racist rednecks.

Harry is one mindless idiot. For those who want to feel compassion for Harry's thieving butt -- go right ahead. As a Ward Five resident, I have my pen poised, just circulate the recall petition already. I want to move forward with the hope that we can elect someone who sincerely wants to serve the constituents, not line his pockets.
For those who argue "innocent until proven guilty," the proof was in the pudding when HTJ agreed to repay the $300K. The imbecile thought that would somehow absolve him of any guilt or further consequences. He is guilty of terminal stupidity. HTJ actually thought trading in the infamous Audi SUV for a Chevy Tahoe would throw folks off the scent. It is still fruit of a poisonous tree.
The raid was just one more step in an ongoing investigation. That idiot Harry has not dodged a bullet because he is the consummate, complete and total dumb robber.
Have you all forgotten that -- Al Capone went to prison for tax evasion? Capone was never convicted for his crimes as a mafia boss. We all know Capone had a lot more sense than Harry does. The criminal investigative division of the IRS is involve. Harry may think he is smarter than the FBI, IRS and DC's finest -- he ain't!
