The Future’s So Bright, He’s Got to Wear Shades

The D.C. Council finally got to question Sulaimon Brown today, but they didn't get to look him in the eye. The former mayoral candidate turned Vince Gray accuser showed up at the Wilson Building wearing sunglasses which he never took off, despite complaints from the council.

It looked a little bit like this:

I believe this title was stolen from a DCist comment.

  • Pete

I can't wait for the Taiwanese news version with animated sunglasses and fake exhibits.

  • Truth Hurts

Too funny!! Put up some images of CM's with wigs, stashes, etc. PLEASE!!

  • Mike Madden

The title was stolen from the song, "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades." Which is probably where the DCist comment got it from too; I haven't read DCist much today.

    @Mike Madden
My bad, I suppose I'm not so hip.

LOL@Mike Madden; your heading to this article is funny. You made my day!!!

Whether or not you "like" or "believe" Sulaimon Brown or not, the disrespect that he was shown today was beneath those of public servants.

For David Catania to to name-call and then say that he has two jobs and Mr. Brown has none...WOW a powerful, employed white man showing his superiority over a black man, not at all new to Washington DC.

Mary Cheh, flexing her "I lick for Vince Gray" gums to threaten Mr. Brown to recall something that he cannot. If this were a court of law her bahvior would have been considered "badgering the witness" and his statements would have been "asked and answered" and she could not have continued to badger him.

You would have to be a complete idiot to beleive that Vince Gray, Lorraine Green, Howard Brooks and Stephanie Reich engaged in paying this man and securing his connection to Mayoral Candidate and now Mayor Gray.

I agreed with Mr. Brown when he snapped at Mr. Barry and his butt-licking of Vince Gray and his "Character, Integrity and Leadership". Mr. Brown said the Mayor is a crook, half the Council is under investigation and you, Mr. Barry were locked up by the very same FBI that I am talking to now...HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    WHEN IS THE RECALL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Truth Hurts

@ MVGSC Outsider: I think you meant "You would have to be a complete idiot NOT to believe ..."

Otherwise, your comment is spot on.

  • MVGSG Outsider

Thank you for the correction TH that is exactly what I meant!

  • new journalism economy

"Truth Hurts" is onto something here. This "dress up your councilmember" app could SAVE JOURNALISM.

  • Jes’ sayin’

Sillyman's comments to former Mayor for Life about how the FBI "locked you up" were absolutely the highlight of the circus. You're right about that, MVGSG!

I guess that's what you can do when someone like Marion attacks you for sullying the reputation of a group where half the members are under investigation, about to be indicted, or already reporting to a probation officer.

    Greetings -

I'm not on either side. My desire is for justice to prevail.

The City Paper mentioned that Cheh did nothing when Brown refused to remove his sunglasses. If I'm correct, it isn't a council rule violation to wear sunglasses at a hearing there. If I am correct, Cheh could legitimatley do nothing. Some dislike Brown's sunglass choice. Others have no problem with his choice.

I was present for the entire hearing. There was disrespect on both sides.

@MVGSG I agree with you wholly on this point that you made relative to Cheh, "...to threaten Mr. Brown to recall something that he cannot. If this were a court of law her bahvior would have been considered "badgering the witness" and his statements would have been "asked and answered" and she could not have continued to badger him."

And the "two jobs" statement by Catania was a low blow - below the belt. For the most part, I am a fan of Catania's but that was below the belt.

Certainly, we all falter. As such, when we do, it is a position of strength to take responsibility, and to make positive amends...

CATANIA THE DIRTY-SEWER-GUT-FILLED SLUT! How dare you jeer the unemployed because he is unemployed? You have disrespected all of the unemployed residing in the District and elsewhere for that matter.

    You phony lawmaker (this goes for Cheh-Man-Dude-Guy, Barry-Crack-Give-It-To-Me-Now, Evans-Dingbat, Thomas-Play-Thug, BOTH Browns or Twins Coonery , Alex-mad-fatter-with-a-blonde-animal-sitting-atop-my-head, Graham-give-me-a-thug-like-Eddie-Long, Mendelson-crybaby-for-big-businesses, Orange-peel-face-yes-I'm-back-in-the-game-to-do-nothing, Wells-slur-speech-can-you-understand-my-prejudices and Bowser-innocent-bystander-keep-me-out-the-fray-you-ghetto-idiots)!

You all came for Sulaimon but didn't know he was coming for you rakes. Time again, the robe of humiliation you attempted to cover him with was simply draped over your shaky shoulders instead. You have the audacity to try to cover for lumpy face Gray when indeed you know he committed wrong on top of wrong. This makes you no better. In fact, it makes you worse.

All of you jokesters have lost the respect of many. And while I believed that Catania was once the sharpest on the council, it took those few words you uttered to make me know that you are indeed crap and are not worthy to be part of our government. Dude, get out of town! Golden showers for all of you right in the kisser! You guys are such cesspools, trust me, you will like the warm sensation.
