Union Busing for Biddle

Vincent Orange may have all the cash in the get-out-the-vote effort for the special election, but Councilmember Sekou Biddle's got the plucky support of Unite Here Local 25, the union that represents the city's hotel and restaurant workers.

Local 25 has rented a two 15-passenger vans and is picking union members up after shifts and taking them to the Board of Elections and Ethics to vote early (and often?). So far, the union says it's plunked down $4,000 for the effort. A union rep says that as far as he knows, no other unions are doing this kind of work for their candidates (The teachers' union and AFL-CIO is backing Orange, while the police union is backing Pat Mara.).

Biddle's going to need all the help he can get trying to counter Orange's cash advantage for get-out-the-vote efforts, which was $110,000 over Biddle at last count. Will it be enough? Probably not, but ask LL on Wednesday.

Speaking of early voting, the latest available spreadsheet from the BOEE has 990 voters who have cast ballots so far, with about a tenth of them being registered Republicans. There's a somewhat even spread between wards (if you count Ward 7 & 8 as one ward) of about 100 to 150 voters each.

For the first time, the Democractic Dream party have received there signal and that's YOUR endorsement has no value to Black voters. Also, for Catania to know that he needs to explore a new position outside of City Council.
