Gray Has Problems Voting

Vincent Gray Has to Use Paper Ballot
LL reports Vincent Gray has voted (presumably, for himself) at his precinct in Ward 7—where the scanner didn't initially accept his paper ballot. Gray says the situation is "unbelievable," and that machines should have been tested and ready to go by last night.

"It just puts a cloud over everything when you have glitches like this occur," Gray said.

His camp is hearing of similar problems with voting equipment elsewhere in Ward 7 and Ward 5. (As are other City Paper reporters. At precinct 45, in Ward 4, it wasn't clear whether the electronic machine was working or not—I was handed a paper ballot with no option to vote electronically. I asked about the electronic machines, and the precinct captain said she wasn't sure if it was on the fritz.

I'm with Gray on this one. Why didn't anyone test these machines weeks ago...and again yesterday? Funny thing. This particular incompetence on Mayor Fenty's watch (similar to what he wants the voters to consider about Gray's former leadership of DOH) may actually help Mr. Fenty keep his current day job.

    Isn't that ironic?

I'm sure the Fentys didn't have any problems. Another scam?

Same thing in Ward 8 at MLK Elementary. I was given a paper ballot and I had to ask about the touch screen voting and was told that the touch screen was not working. No idea if it was really not working or not. Now that I think about it I don't recall seeing my paper ballot scanned but I see no reason why it wouldn't have been.
