D.C. Statehood Plates For All!
Mike Panetta, D.C.'s shadow representative, has introduced an idea for a District of Columbia license plate promoting D.C. statehood. Per DCist, Panetta would like the District to "do away with the 'Taxation Without Representation' plate, and instead go for one boldly declaring us to be the 51st state."
As City Desk has previously reported, there's at least one driver on Capitol Hill who dislikes the current "Taxation Without Representation" plates so much that the individual procured a "DC's Not a State, Get Over It" license frame—one the city says is illegal. So the idea of D.C. as the "51st State" on a new license plate is sure to rankle the driver, whomever it may be. (Washington City Paper has a message for that driver: Suck it.)
