DDOT Announces Grants to Barracks Row, Washington Area Bicyclist Association, and Others

Yesterday, the District Department of Transportation announced 10 grant recipients receiving funds for “non-traditional projects that are linked to the District’s transportation system,” with grants ranging from $50,000 to $579,500.

Back in June, the Department first started soliciting applications for the program, which had some $2 million available. Entries were due in early August.

Cultural Tourism DC: Planning, design, fabrication and installation of self-guided neighborhood historic and cultural trails and signs.

Friends of Hardy: Conversion of current public alley, located between Q place, NW and Q Street, NW, into a publicly accessible alley rain garden. The alley rain garden will absorb storm water runoff and accompanying pollutants that flush through the alley into the storm water drains and Potomac River, and provide a safe and educational public walkway.

DDOT/District Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR): Landscaping of Carter G. Woodson Park and creation/installation of public art.
