Twitter Opening 15th Street Office in Early 2014
As if Twitter hasn't already completely taken over D.C., the company will formalize its invasion of the District early next year when it moves into a new downtown office.
Earlier today, Michael Neibauer reported on a building permit for a "Twitter DC" office on the ninth floor of 1133 15th St. NW, the building that also houses startup hub 1776. A Twitter spokesperson confirms that the company will be moving into that space in early 2014.
Twitter hired its first D.C.-based government liaison back in 2010. The hire, Adam Sharp, insisted that he was not a lobbyist, but was merely helping politicians with their feeds. According to the Twitter spokesperson, the company currently has 12 D.C.-based employees, half of whom work on D.C. ad sales.
So starting next year, if you're ever getting the infamous Fail Whale and want to drop your tweets off in person, you'll know where to go.
