Housing Complex

Exorbitant House of the Week, Modern Edition

Some people want their homes, well, homey. Others prefer life-size glass-and-concrete sculptures, where every angle can slice diamonds and evidence of actual residence is frowned upon. If you fall into the latter category, have I got the home for you!

For $2.9 million, a 3,800-square-foot box of the finest materials can be yours. "Sophisticated minimalism" is the name of the game in this Palisades house. The cabinets and faucets bear impressive German names like Poggenpohl and Dornbacht. Your iPhone can control the "centralized home automation." Even the car gets polished floors. And if all this stylish living wears you out, there's a cocktail recipe handy—on the cold slate wall, naturally.

  • Typical DC BS

I like the outdoor area. The inside is way too cold and sterile for my tastes.

    Well your taste sucks.

Stunning! If I was in the market I'd grab this up in a heart beat. DC needs more modern design like this.

There's a big difference between clean, minimalist design, which is intentional, and "sterile", which is an effect of poor design. In other words, there's nothing sterile about this house - it's gorgeous! I'd call it, 'natural modern' because it looks warm and inviting. Who was the architect/builder??!

I can't believe this is in DC but glad people are taking risks. Very cool.

  • Mary

Amazing! Integrated kitchen, luxe bathroom, wide-plank floors - I'm loving it all!
