		<description>Lydia...I think it&#039;s cheap in Ward 8 because there&#039;s so much low-quality subsidized housing. This has been the area&#039;s achilles&#039; heel for quite some time. There is a push by come community activist for the city to convert these stockpiles into mixed-use/high-density commercial and residential zones or just mixed-income housing developments but the city doesn&#039;t seem to be in a rush to change the housing dynamics in Ward 8 anytime soon...</description>

		<description>Great graphics.  On the housing production bar chart, I guess the question is this: does that 2011 spike merely represent the pent-up demand from clearly recession-related slowdowns in 08, 09, and 10, or is it an actual increase in the trend of construction? 

I suspect it&#039;s a bit of both, particularly given the increases in population in the District over that same timeframe.  It will be curious to see what that data looks like in a few years, once all of these new units hit the market.</description>
