Burned! Solar Decathlon Heads to Orange County

We warned you it was happening, and now the news is out: The 2013 Solar Decathlon, which has taken place in D.C. since its inception a decade ago, is off to the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California. At least the bright young things from Catholic University, George Washington University, and American University—who've made it into the competition as Team Capitol D.C.—will have a nice little vacation.

Can you blame them? It rained and was cloudy for much of the two DC solar deacathlons. It makes sense to have it in a sunnier climate.

Disappointing. It's not even a DOE National Laboratory site.

Surprised that you didn't mention the 2011 winner of this international competition was the University of Maryland College Park. Go Terps!

The winning University of Maryland entry was a dream home, with beautiful architecture and outstanding energy efficiency. Those students from Maryland did an outstanding job.
