What JBG’s Going For at 7th and Florida Avenue

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1B's design committee will get the first look at sketches of JBG's project between 7th and 9th on Florida Avenue NW this evening (6:30 p.m. at the Thurgood Marshall Center if you want to hear more about it). Meanwhile, the presentation of architect Miller Hull's design inspirations and contemplated massing for the project is below.

    So excited to see this happening. The plans look great and very different for DC in a good way.

    much prefer the more classic look in the DUKE plans.

    IMGoph, I love me some traditional architecture, really. But not everywhere. And of all places not in this location given context across the street. DC has some of the worst "modern" architecture in the country in my opinion. This design, while needing some work, has the look of promise. An innovative use of materials while still respecting the ground floor plane as a unique, retail and pedestrian experience. Also, if you take a look through the DUKE plan in its entirety it has a mixture of traditional and modern designs.
