Pit Stops: Quarry House

Part of an ongoing series on restrooms of interest—one of which may have recently exploded!. Peed anywhere interesting lately? Let me know.

Graffiti-covered walls are a time-honored tradition in dive bars and those coffeeshops that serve a punkier clientele. The facilities at Quarry House, in Silver Spring, are actually a somewhat jarring break from the Old English patina that pervades the rest of the subterranean watering hole; the lantern-style wall fixture seems taken from an era before pub-goers freely took a marker to the lavatory. The scrawlings are also less than literary, focusing on subjects such as whether or not a given person is a slut, and the poser-ish attributes of PBR. They are, however, enough to provide some entertainment while attending to nature's call.
