View 14 Leasing Center Opening Soon…

It's been a long road for View 14. But after at least five years under development, the apartment building may get some occupants. Its leasing center is now set to open on November 1st, according to its website.

As I wrote last Spring, View 14 is an erstwhile condo project, turned apartment project. It’s located at the intersection of 14 Street and Florida Avenue.

A year ago, the piece was the subject of a story in the New York Times Key Magazine. The piece—”A Cure for the Condo Glut”—described how developers Jeff Blum and David Franco had wiggled their way out of a tough condo sales climate by converting the building to rentals, thereby performing “an act of real estate hocus-pocus that’s starting to become common.”

As for amenities, View 14 is offering plenty: A game room with billiards, shuffleboard, and Nintendo Wii; A 2,250 square foot fitness center; zipcar car-sharing vehicles on site; finished guest suites available; a "serene" sculpture garden (...that's what it says on the website–that's all I know.)

It will be nice to finally have that block back,  relinquished from its long time construction zone status.
