Ribbon-Cutting at Petworth’s Park Place
You know that big construction project directly across Georgia Avenue from the Petworth Metro station?
Well apparently, it's finally done.
Today was the ribbon-cutting for this new 200,000 square-foot housing and retail development. It's the second large, new residential building to open in Petworth recently, following the Residences at Georgia Avenue back in March.(Soon, a Yes! Organic Market will be opening up in that building too.)
So good for Petworth! This new corner building, named Park Place, includes 161 apartment units, 20 percent of which are designated affordable (and no, I don't know the exact pricing at the moment.)
Residents will also be able to enjoy "the landscaped rooftop [with] a sundeck and a bocce green lawn," plus views of the National Cathedral, the Washington Monument and the US Capitol, according to a city press release.
Back in December, news also broke that chef Gillian Clark might be opening a restaurant on the ground floor of Park Place. (There was a letter of intent at least.)
According to the city's press release, "Donatelli is also making its development mark across the street from Park Place at 3801 Georgia Ave, NW, which will offer 49 market-rate apartments. In addition, at 3813 and 3815 Georgia Ave, NW and 3825-3829 Georgia Ave, NW, Donatelli will be performing renovations and constructing restaurants and housing units. Donatelli intends to break ground with the District on these projects in the fall."
