Amusing how, once again, hypocritical "pseudo-progressive" urban revitalization folks will destroy a historic landmark in order to clear out squatters. Do they hate the poor that much? The demolition of a building on Logan Circle that was being used as a shelter by a local church tells the story. It is the only landmark on Logan Circle -- the only building, in fact -- that the Logan Circle preservationists allowed to be torn down. They demanded it, in fact. The only other historic rowhouses, on N St, that the historic committee allowed to be torn down, were also being used by a shelter. "Historic preservation for me, but not for thee -- only if it contributes to my property values." These people are hypocrites who care nothing about historic value or the community as a whole -- they view themselves as part of a campaign, almost, to rebuild and resettle Washington from the ground up. They only care about what went before if it benefits them in some way.

Haven't you been on a neighborhood walk through with the mayor? He says jump, the city workers with him say how high. They will do whatever he tells them to do or they get fired!

They shouldn't be allowed to take that nice old house down unless it is truly beyond hope. But from the looks of it, it is salvageable.
