Inside D.C.’s New $20 Million Listing
The other day I blogged about a new $20 million listing near Embassy Row. The house, 3055 Whitehaven St NW, is currently owned by Lea and Wayne Berman, Washington Republican royalty—Lea served as Laura Bush’s social secretary, and Wayne is a bigtime lobbyist.
Well, the Bermans have listed with Tutt, Taylor & Rankin Sotheby’s International Realty. Images of the property reveal a penchant for patterns—on the floors, on the walls, draped around the windows, under your butt on the dining room chairs. No solids allowed! (Well there are some—But minimalism is not the leading design principle here.)
The listing remarks claim Whitehaven is “nearly unrivaled for prestige,” having “always been coveted for its elegance, privacy and security.” The house was designed by Washington architect Nathan C. Wyeth, who also designed the Oval Office.

Just came across this article, do you know why Berman has decided to see in this market? Despite making a rather handsome profit should it sell for the listed price, it would likely yeild even more when the market returns. I have been in the home several times for receptions, very nice.
