How Much is the White House Worth?

Zillow, which estimates home values, has analyzed the White House and decided a price tag. There are a couple of factors to examine:

  • The number of rooms: 132 rooms, including 16 family-guest rooms (and a total of 28 fireplaces.)
  • The square footage: 55,000.
  • The property itself: 18 acres.
  • The unique amenities: There's an underground bunker that is said to "withstand a nuclear blast," according to Zillow.

(Value range of $144,787,280 to $409,717,128)

Take that Evermay Estate! In September, the Evermay—a three acre property and historic mansion located in Georgetown—became the highest residential listing to ever go on the market in Washington D.C. The offering price: $49 million.

As you'll see, it is impossible to put a price tag on the White House; how can you possibly value the historic events that have happened there -- from Andrew Jackson's inaugural (where they lured drunken participants from the White House onto the lawn with bathtubs full of booze) to Richard Nixon's installation of a bowling alley.
