Meeting to Discuss McMillan Sand Filtration Site
God, nothing gets me going quite like the words “Sand Filtration Site.”
Okay, maybe not. The 25-acre McMillan sand filtration plant site is one of the most awkwardly-placed, strangely desolate spots in the city. It sits about halfway between the Capitol and the DC/MD border on North Capitol Street (actual location: the intersection of Michigan Avenue and North Capitol Street). Have bodies been dumped there? I don’t know. Seems a likely possibility.
Plans are underway to transform the spot though. Just wanted to point this out: The area is expected to be redeveloped into a mixed-use project that may include residential, retail, office, hotel, park space, and historic preservation. This Saturday, the development partners are planning to present concept plans for the site at 10:00am to 12:00pm at Social Hall, Trinity University (located at 125 Michigan Avenue, NE Washington, DC 20017.)
