The Best Condo Building in D.C.?

This is 3303 Water Street, possibly the best condo building in D.C.—at least, that's what people have told me, over and over again. A few weeks ago, I wrote a story about the dearth of true luxury units by the Georgetown waterfront. Sure, if you want something with bedrooms and bathrooms, with the coveted 20007 zip code, there are quite a few buildings to choose from. But, when it comes to real amenities—the kind that you never tend to think about—like the thickness of the floor (you'll never hear a single footstep from above!), and superior exhaust systems (deep fry all you want!), the supply is limited. After hearing about 3303 Water Street for quite some time, I decided that I needed to stop by and check out the place myself. No doubt about it: gorgeous. My guide was Monica Boyd, who showed me two units she recently listed at 3303 Water Street. One was a 1,703 square foot, canal view unit for $1.699 million. The other was a 1,752 square foot Potomac view unit for $1.995 million. More pictures below.

The grassy roof is the top of a Pepco substation.

Okay, so I didn't visit on the most enticing day for swimming. This rooftop pool overlooks the Potomac.

View from the roof, looking toward Georgetown University.

This is the building's back wall, facing the canal.

You guessed it, the canal.

Isn't this building inches from the Whitehurst Freeway on the river side? Were those the units available?

[...] But EastBanc has dealt with its fair share of hassles over the years, and always persevered. See, Exhibit A, how EastBanc fought Exxon to close an ugly gas station near one of its condo buildings, and ultimately came to compromise that both companies could stomach. Or, Exhibit B, how it turned a parcel of land right between a highway and a Pepco building into one of the most sought-after, expensive condo buildings in the city, 3303 Water Street. [...]
