New Potential Record Breaker Going on the Market

In late August, the owners of the Halcyon House in Georgetown listed their property for $30 million, a potential record breaking sale for the city. The house is a 30,000-square-foot historic mansion, with five-bedrooms, and nine-bathrooms overlooking the Potomac, at 3400-3410 Prospect St. NW.

Yawn.

Turns out, roughly a month later, a new property is about to unseat Halcyon from its thrown atop D.C. home sales: the Evermay Estate, a three and a half acre property in Georgetown, is going on the market for 49 million in the coming weeks. The listing agent will be Jeanne Livingston of Long & Foster, who sold the home of Katharine Graham of the Washington Post a few years back. The sale was confirmed by Long & Foster agent Nancy Itteilag and Darrell Parsons, manager of the Georgetown Long & Foster office.

Update Sept. 26, 5:48 pm: As reported late last night by The Wall Street Journal, in addition to Jeanne Livingston, Susie Maguire of Long & Foster also has the listing, in association with Christie's Great Estates. The home is on three and a half acres, not four, as previously stated.
