Holy cow. Did we see the same show?
Yes, Koun Kukki started with promise -- the shuffling, the assembly of the minimal set, the horseriding set-up -- but after a generous and forgiving forty minutes, I had to stop the pain, so I left. Unfunny jokes were telegraphed in excruciating slowness, and the whole thing spent days going no particular place. I love a life-size puppet of the vice president as much as the next guy, but announcing that Bush is dumb and Cheney cooked up a war doesn't really qualify as satire. It's telling that Dr H's glowing review includes the phrases 'as you may guess' and 'yet another'. He's absolutely right: you've seen it before and you'll know exactly what's coming.

Super Glossy! In a world where one woman shows are rare and weak.. this one is super strong. Courtney Mclean is a treat to watch and one helluva story teller. The multi-media humor really added an extra dimension to the show. Great performance and high energy! See it early and it will fuel the rest of your night.

If you didn't see "Koun Kukki: The Legend of Hamachi and Unagi" make sure you tell all your pals down in Greensboro, NC about it. These dudes were the nicest guys I've met on the fringe circuit in a long time. I'm so happy that got such a great review... professionals like that deserve the kudos!
